2021 CINS Cinsault
Amidst the growing range from Brash Higgins, the Cinsault has become a little bit of a dark horse favourite. The Rhône variety sings in our climate, and with the right hit of sun over the season, grants gorgeous, bounteous cherry scented fruit. This fruit was placed in an open two tonne fermenter for two weeks. Wild yeast did their job and then it all was gently basket pressed and sent to veteran French hogsheads for 7 months. This is fragrant, juicy and smooth, and begs to be popped in the fridge.
Brash Higgins is the label of American journo/somm-turned-honorary-Aussie winemaker, Brad Hickey. He came to Australia many moons ago and fell in love with McLaren Vale and local vigneron Nicole Thorpe, with whom he now produces stunning wines from their Omensetter vineyard. They both have a love for amphoric fermentation and minimalist techniques in the vineyard and cellar.
