Le Vigne du Louis is a Trousseau that’s a touch lighter than the other cuvees, but it has the same lustre. Younger vines are mostly to account for this fresher take. Le Vigne du Louis is a Trousseau that’s a touch lighter than the other cuvees, but it has the same lustre. Younger vines are mostly to account for this fresher take. Juicy, long and with a lattice like tannic structure - full of fresh red fruit and that smokey Trousseau thing - almost like sizzling bacon fat. Like most of the Jura icons we love to stock here in the shop, Michel Gahier is a purist - a champion of old school Jura winemaking and sustainable viticulture. Jura wines really are a sensory whirlwind of place, presence and time. Michel lives in the centre of the village of Montigny-les-Arsures, near the central town of Arbois. It’s widely accepted that Montigny is regarded as the finest terroir for the Trousseau grape in the Jura, making Michel’s reds a must drink. The whites have a freshness to them, they are not made oxidatively but they glitter with that Jura mountain glow. Like looking at a snow capped mountain in the distance, the sun just coming up over it.
