2016 Ravera Barolo
A relatively short fermentation, 20% of which is whole bunch. There is an inviting chaos of roses, wildflowers, surrounded by heady spices and raspberries. All of these wines exhibit a very structured and firm personality, but if you are experienced with Barolo then you will see the complexity and minerally richness behind the tannins. A profound wine. Ferdinando Principiano is based on the southern lip of Barolo, and after making the switch to biodynamic cultivation in the early 2000’s, now benefits from the rugged and wild cup of biodiversity surrounding him in the Alta Langhe forest. There is an immense purity and power to the wines, truly tipping the hat to the classics, but also allowing space for more modern affectations.
