Yokel - 2020 Verdelho

Josephine Perry's ‘Yokel’ range, within the Dormilona family, represents fun lovin’ wines made with fruit from WA’s oldest wine region; the Swan Valley. Their mascot is the native Western Swamp Tortoise, the most critically endangered reptile in Aus.

Verdelho is a classic grape from the Swan Valley, lost in the wave of alternate varieties planted over the years. This fruit is from the traditional Lamonts vineyard planting in the upper Swan Valley, where vines are 80 years of age and dry grown. Grapes were hand harvested, then destemmed into open fermenters for slight skin contact, and basket pressed straight to tank for a chill ferment. This is a thirst-crushing Verdelho, with texture and oomph from five months on lees. Verd-hello.

PS. One buck from every bottle of Yokel sold goes towards supporting our endangered friend.
