Evan Lewandowski is a soulful, spiritual winemaker, based in California. He used to ship all of his fruit from Cali to Utah (hence the shape of the label), but he’s now properly based in the sunshine state. Though he has an affinity with the European wines that shaped him, the wines are quintessentially nouveau-American, his own thing entirely. We are welcoming Evan’s wines for the first time in Australia, we don’t get to see many modern, living wines from there, but hopefully this opens the floodgates. And how could it not!? This Piedmontese inspired number features Arneis, Dolcetto, Nebbiolo, Barbera and Montepulciano grown at his Fox Hill vineyard, Mendocino County, California. All varieties are co-fermented and carbonically macerated, making for a joyous, harmonious, faerie potion of a wine full of charming red fruit and forest flowers.
